This episode is monumental for The Doobie Wrapz Duo because they never would have thought in a million years, they would be able to speak to this group of highly regarded, talented individuals. This episode kicks off Black History Month, the celebration of "ol' school" music and paying homage to black greats, pioneers, and trailblazers of music.
The Doobie Wrapz Duo was extremely honored to speak with The Whispersa soul R&B group that has sung for more than 50 years. They have recorded 25 albums, in which eight of those albums hit the top 10, and they had 15 top ten R&B singles. They have definitely earned their spot in the Official R&B Music Hall of Fame, where they were inducted in 2014. This group formed in 1964 in Watts, California. The original group was with the identical twins Walter and Wallace Scott, Gordy Harmon, Marcus Hutson, and Nicholas Caldwell. They are known for their two number-one R&B singles “And the beat goes on” (1960) and “Rock Steady” (1987). They have earned two platinum and five gold albums by the RIAA.
